HISTORY CLASS

Have you ever wondered how Columbus got it's name? Who was Capt Thomas Howard? You can learn these and other historical facts about Polk County. Local historian Anna Pack Conner is planning to teach her Polk County history course once again.

Starting on Thursday, October 4th from 1 to 2:30 pm each week and continuing for five consecutive weeks, come listen and learn about Polk County's past. Conner will share information about the county and it's beginnings. The classes are being offered by the Polk County Historical Association and will be held inside the museum at 60 Walker Street in Columbus.

If you are a member of the historical assocation the cost is only $50 per person. Non-members can enroll in the classes for $75. Each week participants will be given a written outline for the next session.

"We are excited to make this opportunity available to area residents," said Pat McCool, President of the Polk County Historical Association. "Anna has taught this class numerous times and former students have been pleased at her insight on the local historical facts."

The course is limited to 30 participants. To register or for more information contact Pat McCool at COOL1760@GM
